Story behind the treasure: What makes these books special to me is that they were a gift to my grandmother from her favourite brother in 1912, when she was 11. He has inscribed the inside of both covers with my grandmother's name, "From Fred 10/1/12". The books and their 'specialness' were passed on to me from her as she particularly treasured this gift from Fred who was killed at Gallipoli in 1915. I feel close to him through my grandmother's fondness and share her sense of loss.
