Story behind the treasure: My grandfather Thomas was a piano builder with Broadwood's. His name is stamped in the back of the piano. The piano was bought new in 1898 for my grandfather Hastings and passed from him, via my mother, to me. It was 43 years after the piano was made before the two families became connected by my parents' marriage in 1941. The piano remains in excellent original condition and the sheer joy and coincidence of owning a piano built by one of my grandfathers and owned by the other makes it a "treasure for ever".
