Story behind the treasure: This elephant is very special to me,I was always told the elephant was one of a pair bought over from the colonies maybe & belonged to my great great Grandmother, who kept them on either side of her fireplace and that they originally had a figure sitting on top(long since gone!).My Grandmother & her sister inherited one each & I remember my Grandad patching poor old battered elephant up as he had been well loved! My childhood memories of visiting my Grandparents house will always be tied up with sitting stroking this elephant, he is a very special treasure.
