Story behind the treasure: This diary was written by my late mother, a native German, during the years 1943 -1945 and kept hidden until this year, when, shortly after her death, it was found behind furniture in my fathers house. It is written in 'High German', similar to our Old English. It contains my mother's thoughts regarding the war, Hitler, the Nazis, most if not all of them, very uncomplimentary, and anyone of her comments, had they been read, at the time, would have seen her shot. Her courage as a young woman, has inspired our family.
