Story behind the treasure: Grandad was in the army so she lived in the married quarters in Africa, where my mother was born. When Mum was two the first world war started, Grandad was send to France so the family returned to Gloucestershire. Postwar Gran & Grandad ran a pub until he died, and Gran came to live with us. She gave me the colander when I set up house. Dating from the 1890s its battered and has lost its feet but still useable. My daughter wants it next!
