Story behind the treasure: I was an archaeological diver on the Mary Rose for nearly a year and was then in the salvage team that raised her in 1982 so was thrilled to come across this hand coloured engraving, at auction, the Cowdray engraving, depicting the sinking of the Mary Rose and the Battle of the Solent against the French on July 19th 1545. The engraving was done in 1788 and five years later the original was destroyed by fire so feel very privileged to be the guardian of this wonderful engraving.
