Story behind the treasure: Although not in its original box I believe this vintage toy was from Hamleys of London. It is a small unusual do-it-yourself kaleidoscope which belonged to my maiden aunt who lived in Ealing London. As a child I used to stay with her and spent many a happy time collecting pebbles, leaves, buttons, beads - anything tiny, to examine. The box still contains the old silver paper, bottle tops etc. which I remember so well. She died in 2001 at the age of 89 having lived in the same house all her life.
